Globalization

Globalization

Cultural Effects
•Cheap 'made in china' sombrero vuitiao is being sold many more times cheaper than the hand made one, causing people to buy the fake ones.
•Potato growers in Chile have been looking for new jobs since american potatoes reached the market.
•Starbucks reaching Colombia has made competition to the local coffee growers who have been growing coffee for centuries.

Economic Effects
•Starbucks has brought competition to local cofee shops.
•In shops imported potatoes are cheaper than local potatoes because of the price of the fertilizer.
•Brought from China sombrero Vueltiao is many more times cheaper than the original one, making people buy products from outside the countrie. (Affects economy of country)

Pace of Change

What does the term "pace of change" mean?
In relation with Globalization, pace of change is the velocity in wich it reaches other countries or how long it takes for the product or idea to reach another nation.
Based on the video+your notes give atleast 2 different examples that demostrate this concept.
•How long it took for the Silk that was brought from China to reach and connect the east and the west.
•How much time it took for other lands to  start accepting Christianity.

Race/ethnicity Post

How would your life be different if you were living in that society, based on your race/ethnicity? Would you have more or less privilege? Would you have to change your behaviors? Would you face discrimination? My life would be diffrent if I lived in tibet because it is different from where I come from and the languaje will be different for me to learn. I would be less privilidged because I dont know the languaje or anything in general about Tibet. I sure would need to change my behaviors, people from Colombia are different than peopple from Tibet/China and I would need to react differntly, so I would need to change my behavior. I would be discriminated by where I come from, how i look, the way I speak and many other things that would make me different from them.

Articles

I chose the article "There are only three countries in the world were your boss is more likely to be a woman"
My life is different living in one of the three countries from if I lived in a country that woman were not that common to be bosses. I probably would be taught to work not that much to sustain a company, since it isint that common but more to work from directions.
I wouldent have the priviledges I have since I wouldent have that much posibility to have a such important job, different from what I have now, a high possibility.
I would need to change my behavior since I would not be the one making the choises and giving the directions of the company, I would probably be the one following them.
My privilidges and rights would be limited if I lived in a place with a low number of Female bosses and I wouldent have the chance to ran a whole company.

Understanding Prejudice Quiz reflection.

I took the race test. My results were a preference for white people with a 48 percent. I think they may be true since I am surrounded with people from this race, but generally I dont think I have a preference for neither of them.
